EMERGENCY: To report imminent danger to human health or damage to property such as a disabled vehicle on a railroad grade crossing, immediately call (800) 338 4750 and request the Chief Dispatcher.

Pre-Arranged Crossing Assistance Number

To pre-arrange a safe crossing of a low, slow or oversized vehicle across any Montana Rail Link track, please follow these steps:

  • Call (800) 338 4750 a minimum of seven (7) days prior to your proposed crossing move
  • Be prepared to provide a description of the crossing location and a return telephone number, fax number, and/or email address
  • If a railroad representative is unable to assist you immediately, a return call, fax, or email will be provided within four (4) days of your initial call to discuss the details of your crossing move

On-line resources are available to assist you in developing a description of the crossing location. These include a Montana Rail Link system map, available at www.montanarail.com (under General Information) and various maps available from the Montana Department of Transportation at www.mdt.mt.gov/travinfo/maps/ and from the Idaho Department of Transportation at www.state.id.us/aboutidaho/maps.html
